Gregory Maguire was born June 9, 1945 in Albany, NY. He received his Ph.D. in English and American Literature from Tufts University, and his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany (now the University at Albany). He is the New York Times bestselling author of Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, and several dozen other novels for adults and children. Many of Maguire's novels are based on classic children's stories.
The collection includes correspondence, artwork, and drafts of works by Gregory Maguire. The collection also holds clippings from Maguire's father from his time as a reporter in Albany, NY, writings from other family members, family correspondence, and souvenir booklets from Wicked, the musicial, from performances around the world.

All items in this collection were transferred to the University Libraries, M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives by Gregory Maguire in 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2017.
