Fritz Blumenthal came to the U.S. in 1938 after having received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1937 from the University of Bern, Switzerland. Although Blumenthal remained a practicing physician, he continued to write poetry, paint and produce prints and his work was exhibited throughout the U.S. and Europe during his lifetime.
The collection contains family and personal documents, correspondence, 1930-1996, clippings, manuscripts of poetry, sketchbooks, correspondence and clippings concerning exhibitions of Fritz Blumenthal's art (water colors and monotypes), materials and correspondence on radioactive fallout from the 1950s and 1960s.
The collection is unprocessed and is likely disorganized. Individual items may be difficult to find.
All items in this collection were transferred to the University Libraries, M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives.
